IPS Nalin Prabhat sent to terror struck J&K

As expected Nalin Prabhat, soon after his inter cadre transfer, has been appointed as special DG J&K Police. He will take over as DG Police once RR Swain retires on September 30, 2024.

Immediately after the approval of inter-cadre deputation for from Andhra Pradesh cadre to AGMUT, the home appointed him as the special DG of Jammu & Kashmir Police. His tenure as director general of National Security Guard (NSG) was also curtailed. 

Prabhat, a 1992 batch IPS is set to become director general of Jammu & Kashmir police after the incumbent Rashmi Ranjan Swain, a 1991 batch IPS retires on September 30, 2024.

Prabhat's appointment is seen as a critical move, considering his vast experience and the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K needs officer like Prabhat 

The law and order situation in J& K needs an officer like Nalin Prabhat, who is specialist in delaying with insurgency and naxalites.  

A highly decorated and respected officer, Nalin has won the police gallantry medal three times. He has a distinguished record, including heading the ‘Greyhounds,' a specialized anti-Naxal police force in Andhra Pradesh. His extensive experience in handling sensitive operations is evident from his past roles in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), where he served as the Inspector General (IG) of operations and General (ADG) overseeing deployments in Kashmir.    

Rules relaxed for appointment of Nalin Prabhat

The ACC sanctioned Prabhat's inter-cadre deputation from Andhra Pradesh to the Arunachal Pradesh-- and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre for an initial period of three years, or until further orders, whichever comes first. This decision was made in relaxation of the inter-cadre deputation guidelines.
