IPS Kishan Sahai Meena suspended for laxity in election duty

Kishan Sahai Meena, a 2004 batch officer promoted from stage police service, has been suspended by Election of India (ECI). Meena was deputed on election duty in Jharkhand, where assembly election is being conducted. 

Meena, who was serving as IG Human Rights, was made police observer on three seats – Sisai, Gumla and Bishunpur. But he abstained from duty and left the place on October 28, 2024 without permission from ECI. 

The ECI has sent a letter to the chief secretary Sudhansh Pant and director general of Police U R Sahu regarding suspension of Meena. 

The had recommended name of Kishan Sahay for election duty on October 21 and order for the duty was issued on October 23, 2024. 

Meena had run into controversy earlier also

Krishna Sahai Meena had given a controversial statement about Hindu religion and God. He had said that the characters and Gods mentioned in scriptures are all imaginative. His statement had courted controversy.
