An inmate called up and threatened to shoot Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma. The inmate, identified as Mukesh, lodged in Jaipur central for five years under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, called up control room and threatened to kill Rajasthan CM. He made a call from mobile phone at 10 in the morning.

The Jaipur Police has lodged against the accused and suspended the head jail warden Ajay Singh Rathore and warden Manish Yadav for negligence in their duty. After interrogation more officials are likely to be booked.

The police have identified two more inmates – Chetan and Rakesh – who were found with mobile phone and sim with them. Now police will take custody of these three inmates and interrogate after bringing them on production warrant.

Jaipur Police Commissoner Biju George Joseph said Mukesh called up from central jail to police control room from mobile phone and switched off the phone after making that threatening call for Rajasthan CM. As soon as control room received the call, Jaipur police swung into action and nabbed the culprit. Since he had switched off the phone, it took little time.

“Police using the technology traced the call and found that the call was made from central jail,” he said.

According to sources in jail, the accused Mukesh is said to be unstable. He had been lodged in jail for five years and doesn't have a sound mind. But more than the threatening call, it's the easy availability of mobile phone with normal inmates which is raising concern for police officials. The department is now finding the gaps in the jail system which is allowing such lapses to happen.

“After thorough interrogation, we will come to know how mobile phone and sim could reach the central jail. We will take strict action whosoever is involved  in it,” Joseph said.
