IAS Rajendra Bhatt, who is serving as the divisional commissioner of Udaipur, has become the first chairman of the newly created Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). The erstwhile Urban Improvement Trust Udaipur has been upgraded to UDA following the passage of UDA Bill- 2023 on July 24 this year.
Recently, the formation of UDA was notified and formally UIT was upgraded to UDA just before the enforcement of code of conduct.
With this UDA will get financial power and many cases related to urban development can now be disposed of in authority itself without referring it to urban development ministry.
“When it was UIT, collector used to be the chairman when there was no political appointment. But now being UDA, divisional commissioner is ex-officio chairman,” said an official.
He said that one the new government comes in, the authority will have various b administrative and engineering posts including commissioner, director engineering, director finance, deputy commissioner zones and director law among other posts.
