Pawan Arora , 2007 batch IAS , has taken voluntary retirement to join a regional TV channel and English newspaper of Rajasthan. Arora is known to be a dynamic resulted oriented officer with unblemished track record. He is being credited to revive state government run Rajasthan Housing Board, which was on the verge of closure. As Housing Board he grew the turnover of the board to Rs 10,000 crore, which in itself is a case study.

Arora has joined First India TV channel and First India newspaper as CEO and Editor. Arora has followed the footstep of his brother Jagdeesh Chandra, who had also taken voluntary retirement from Service in 2008, to take a plunge in media. Chandra will remain the CMD and Editor-in-Chief of the channel and newspaper Arora is joining. He is also Editor-in-Chief and of national Hindi news channel Bharat 24

“Like Chandra, Arora has also joined media in an election year. Chandra had taken over ETV on September 1, 2008 during Vasundhara Raje regime, almost three months before the Rajasthan state elections and 17 months to go for retirement. Arora, who is still left with 29 months of service, is joining media in the election year during Gehlot rule, almost three months before the polls,” said a senior journalist.

Chandra, a known face in media world and popularly called Qatil sahab, has turned the face of regional media in last 15 years. He knows the trick of turning ailing channels into profit making. Now with another dynamic officer and younger brother alongside, the media group is expecting a double bonanza.

Arora has been credited of giving facelift to the historical city by adding new tourist spots. He gave city new culinary destinations in Chaupati and Masala Chowk besides developing gardens and parks in the city area.

Recently, he launched multi storied ultra-modern residential complex for MLAs which houses 160 flats which is the last project he had handed over to the government.

Arora has also developed the idea of building Constitution Club in Jaipur on the lines of Delhi's famous Constitution Club. The Rs 80-crore club is under construction and will soon be launched with all the modern facilities like health spa, cafetarias, lounges, gym and recreation centre.
