Jhunjhunu collector Chinmayee Gopal had a close shave on Monday when the Innova in which she was travelling met with an accident. Though the front part of her car got badly damaged, no injury was reported to her. Her driver had minor injury and was rushed to hospital. Personal Assistant of Collector Vipin Choudhary and Gunman Sachin escaped unhurt.
What happened?
Jhunjhunu collector Chinmayee Gopal had gone to visit the spot in Singhana where a Scorpio car collided head on with a bus leaving five dead and 20 injured. After visiting the spot and attending the aggrieved people, Gopal on her return to Jhunjhunu met with the accident. Her car collided sideways with a Cruiser car which turned abruptly without giving any blinker. The driver tried to save the collision but ended up hitting with the Cruiser car. The car got uncontrolled and skidded a long way into a roadside hotel.
Chinmayee Gopal was later sent in the car of district council ceo Amba Lal Meena.
In October 2023, another IAS Tikam Chand Bohra, who was then collector of newly created Shahpura district carved out of Bhilwara, had met with an accident. He had suffered head injury but was later discharged safely after treatment.
Who is Chinmayee Gopal?
Chinmayee Gopal is a 2014-batch IAS officer. She is considered an efficient officer and had been collector of Tonk in her previous assignment.
A post graduate in Economics, Chinmayee has also served as commissioner of Ajmer Nagar Nigam, joint secretary industries, managing director RUDA in her 10-year long career. She had also been sub divisional magistrate of Ramganj Mandi and Bhilwara in early part of her career.
