IAS Ashish Modi suspends school principal following death of student in Udaipur

Following the death of a class X student in Udaipur during school hours, director of secondary education Ashish Modi suspended Eesha Dharmawat, principal of Government Higher Secondary School in which the incident of knife-attack happened.

The directorate observed that the school did not keep a check on ' activities in the school. Due to lack of monitoring and gross negligence, the two students fought and one of them stabbed the other with a knife in school campus.

Dharmawat will have to report to directorate, secondary education, during the period of suspension. 

The education department has found principal and staff responsible for the mishap. The class teacher Rakesh Kumar Jaroli has also been suspended following initiation of a departmental enquiry. 

The divisional commissioner of Udaipur Rajendra Bhatt and Udaipur collector Arvind Poswal have also recommended action against the school staff for the incident. 

The victim's family has also demanded action against the school staff and it was a part of the agreement between administration and victim's family before the post-mortem.

No sharp object allowed in school

The directorate of secondary education has banned all kinds of weapons, knife, scissors  and other 

sharp objects in schools across the state. The school administration will check bags and pockets of students entering the schools. 

“We need to follow this strictly to avoid any such incident in ,” said a senior official of education department.
