House of an IAS catches fire when his Tata Nexon (EV) car exploded while charging

House of an of Chhattisgarh cadre caught fire when his Tata Nexon (EV) car exploded during charging. Due to the blast, a portion of his house caught fire, an Innova car and a two wheeler got reduced to ashes. The fire also damaged ACs installed at his house.

The IAS officer Sudhakar Xalxo, 2012 batch, was on election duty in Telangana where he has been appointed as observer while his family had gone for shopping.

“No one was at home. No injury has been reported so far. A portion of house got damaged before could control the fire. Few vehicles also got damaged due to fire,” said a senior police officer.

The incident happened posh locality of Officers Colony in Raipur where senior bureaucrats live.

“This created panic among officers. Had fire not been controlled, it would have engulfed adjoining houses also,” said the officer.

Who is Sudhakar Xalxo

Sudhakar Xalxo is a 2012 batch IAS officer promoted from services. He is currently posted as in Chhattisgarh secretariat.

He has not been allocated any department since he was removed from the post of secretary Chhattisgarh Public Commission after he was caught in an inebriated condition at office.

There were complaints that Xalxo used come to office in drunken state and would bother staff with his unruly behaviour. The chief minister Bhupesh Baghel removed him and posted him in secretariat without any department.
