Rajasthan High Court has quashed FIR against IAS Nannu Mal Pahadiya who was caught by Anti Corruption Bureau allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5 lakh.
The single bench of Justice Ganesh Ram Meena quashed the FIR and directed to annul the trial proceedings being undertaken at local ACB court.
Pahadiya was caught by ACB in April 2022 and was suspended three months ahead of his retirement. He spent few months in jail before coming out on bail. He was under suspension and was not given retirement benefits.
Pahadiya was a 2006 batch IAS officer promoted from state services. He nursed political ambitions also and had sought ticket from BJP to contest assembly election from his native place Weir.
What is the case?
According to ACB sources, Nannu Mal Pahadiya, during his stint as collector Alwar, allegedly demanded Rs 16 lakh as bribe to facilitate construction work on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway which was then under construction and was passing through Alwar.
The contractors approached ACB and complained about Nannu Mal Pahadiya, an RAS officer Ashok Sankhla and a middleman Nitin Sharma.
ACB, after receiving the complaint, set up a trap in which Nannu Mal Pahadiya and his accomplices were caught accepting bribe of Rs 5 lakh.
Pahadiya was accepting bribe even after being transferred from the post of Alwar collector. He was to join as commissioner departmental enquiry. But during the transition period, he was arrested taking bribe from collector's bungalow which he was occupying even after coupe of days of his transfer.
