As many as 7 ladies police personnel have alleged sexual harassment against an IPS officer Sumit Kumar, who is serving as SP in Jind district of Haryana.
Sumit Kumar, 2020 batch IPS promoted from state police service, has allegedly forced a lady police official to engage in physical relation. He allegedly threatened to ruin her career by spoiling Annual Confidential Report (ACR).
When the lady police official complained about it to a deputy superintendent of police Geetika, she told the victim to do whatever is being asked to for growth in career.
A letter addressed to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini is doing rounds on social media. The letter has been signed by seven police official. Lady officials have threaded to commit suicide if appropriate action is not taken against the SP. The BuckStopper doesn't authenticate the veracity of the letter.
The Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Barauli, however said that the state government is investigating the matter.
The accused IPS Sumit Kumar himself requested for an enquiry
Sumit Kumar said that he had apprised about the entire episode to the DGP and requested for an in-depth enquiry's
“Lady police officials who have been named in the letter, are denying that they had signed the letter. It's matter of investigation, who has done the mischief.
“Unless the verification of the letter is done, nothing can be said,” he said.
IPS stalks good looking lady officer
One of the lady officials wrote:
“I do my job honestly. The IPS doesn't saty with his family in Jind. One day SHO of women police station took me along to the residence of SP. That time there was no one except the gate man. The SHO and SP asked me to prepare tea. When I served the tea to SP, he held my hands and started forcing himself on me. I resisted and ran away from there.”
The lady official further wrote that she was asked to cooperate with SP when she approached one of the DSPs who is also a lady officer.
“Please cooperate if you want promotion. If you will cooperate you with have loads of money,” the lady DSP said.
Another lady constable said that there is a nexus between SHO, DSP and SP, who lure lady officials by giving false promises of promotion. They trap youngsters from well to do families and drag them into sexual relations with last constable. Then they (the nexus) blackmail rich men and extort money.
