Haider Ali Zaidi, former IPS, dies of cancer

Former IPS Haider Ali Zaidi died after losing battle to cancer. He had been fighting with this dreaded disease for last four years. Zaidi retired as additional of in August 2022.

Haider Ali Zaidi was considered as efficient and compassionate police officer. He joined police force as deputy and then got promoted to IPS. He was given 2006 batch of IPS.

Haider Ali Zaidi, a resident of walled city of Jaipur, had a very good public connect. He had served at many important positions including DCP traffic Jaipur, district SP Bharatpur and in intelligence department.

Zaidi was also a close friend of star Irrfan Khan, who had died few years ago. Zaidi and Irrfan both lived through the lanes of Jaipur and reached to the heights in their respective careers.

Zaidi joined police service after doing post graduation in Economics. He was considered a bright student and has a strong views and opinions on economics and financial matters. He would often debate on economic policies of the country with his friends.

During his days as DCP traffic, Haider Ali Zaidi engaged with public and society and held several traffic awareness programmes. This has created a positive impact on following traffic rules. People still remember his days as DCP traffic.

Irrfan once saved life of Haider Ali Zaidi

Sharing his memories with Irrfan, Zaidi had once told this reporter, “He is no more but I feel that he will call me right now or come here to meet me.” He revealed that the actor saved his life when he accidentally touched a live electric wire while returning from school. “He pushed me to save my life,” Zaidi said.

But this time Irrfan was not there to save Haider Ali Zaidi's life and he succumbed to cancer after giving a spirited fight.
