Putting aside the general perception of RPSC members being ‘pure political appointees' Lt. Col. (retd) Kesari Singh Rathore, who was appointed during Congress regime, hailed chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma ‘Super Captain'.
He praised working and overall understanding of Bhajan Lal Sharma.
“RPSC as an institution is working independently. As a constitutional body, we have no affinity with any political party or government. We are doing our job. Our chairman (officiating) Kailash Chand Meena is the captain and our chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is the super captain,” Rathore said recently to a leading newspaper.
After paper leak fiasco and other scandals which put question mark on the accountability of RPSC, the commission is on a cleansing mode. Members are showing utmost transparency in interviews and the entire recruitment process. So much so that Rathore dared to resign if any candidate selected in his board with higher marks in interview fails to comply with government parameters in skills and knowledge.
“Kesari Singh Rathore wanted to enter politics. But he had not joined any party. So calling him a Congressman or a BJP person would not be appropriate for an officer who had served the country on border. Officer doesn't have any caste, creed or affiliation,” said a course mate of Kesari Rathore adding that Maj General Alok Raj, also appointed by Ashok Gehlot as chairman RSSB, is doing a good job.
RPSC needs facelift
The utmost priority of Rajasthan government is to appoint an accomplished and accountable person as chairman of RPSC – the post which has been vacant for over six months now. The lost glory of RPSC can be gained only by appointing an apolitical person on top and let the commission work as an independent constitutional body.
