Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced a fixed deposit of Rs 10 lakh and a government job to tribal woman who was allegedly stripped naked and paraded in a village in Pratapgarh district. Gehlot met the victim and her family and assured justice and all possible help.
“She is pregnant… I have told her to remain strong and take care of herself and her family,” Gehlot said.
The government has formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to arrest those involved in the barbaric incident.
“We have arrested seven men, including the husband of the victim, and four others have been detained in connection with the case”, said Pratapgarh SP Amit Kumar, who has recently been awarded with union home minister's medal for excellence in Investigation.
The Incident:
The victim's father on Saturday said that her husband tore her clothes and later four to five people dropped her at their house at night.
“The incident took place the day before yesterday. They (the accused) tore her clothes… Later, they came to drop her home around 11 pm. There were four to five people. I do not know their names. (Accused) is her husband…”
The incident came to light through a viral video in which the woman was disrobed and paraded in front of villagers by her husband.
Police said the victim lodged a complaint against her husband Kanha Gameti along with Suraj, Beniya, Netiya, Nathu, and Mahendra for forcibly taking her on a motorcycle and parading her naked.
Initial investigations revealed that the woman was in a relationship with another man, according to Dhariyawad SHO Peshawar Khan. Police stated that the woman's in-laws kidnapped her and took her to their village where the incident took place on Thursday. Her in-laws were reportedly upset as she was staying with another man.
