Everyone knew the result before it was announced. RSS man Dr Deepak Maheshwari becomes principal of SMS Medical College, Dr BS Jodha, brother-in-law of union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, becomes principal of SN Medical College, Jodhpur

Rajasthan government has finally appointed full fledged principals of SMS Medical College Jaipur and SN Medical College, Jodhpur.

Dr Deepak Maheshwary, who was serving as acting principal of SMS Medical College has been given full charge of principal. At the same time Dr B S Jodha, who is relative of union and member of parliament from Jodhpur , has been appointed as principal of Jodhpur Medical College. They will remain on the post for 3 years or till 62 years of age whichever is earlier.

Postings have political colours

Dr Maheshwary has an background while BS Jodha is close relative of union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

A month ago, Jodha was the principal of Jodhpur Medical College. He was then suddenly removed from the post and Dr Bharti Saraswat was made principal in his place.

According to sources, the change in leadership was effected after chief minister has visited Jodhpur. That had angered Gajendra Singh Shekhawat who had said that the change was done from chief minister office.

Now after the interviews, Jodha has been reinstated as principal massaging the bruised ego of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

After finalising the name of principal of SMS Medical College, soon names of medical superintendent (MS) of SMS , J K Lone and Gangauri Hospital will be announced. More than 10 senior doctors are in the fray for these three positions.
