IPS Amitabh Yash, a 1996-batch officer, is under attack for allegedly buying out land in name of his mother. Former IPS and his homonym Amitabh Thakur, a 1992 batch IPS, who was sent on compulsory retirement in 2021, has raised questions over Yash's integrity and honesty.
Thakur, who is now national president of Azad Adhikar Sena, has sent a letter to union home ministry demanding probe and appropriate action in the suspicious land purchase in the name of of mother of Amitabh Yash, who is currently serving as ADG Law and Order and ADG Special Task Force.
Thakur alleged that in last three years 52 bighas of land parcels worth Rs 17 crore have been purchased in the name of Amitabh Yash's mother in districts of Gonda, Basti and Ayodhya.

“We demand a fair probe about the role of Amitabh Yash in these purchases as he holds a powerful office in state police,” Thakur said.
Thakur alleged that as per the information received by him, most of these land are said to be disputed, which have also been purchased at a cheaper rate and vacated under his (Yash's) influence.
“The union home ministry should take cognisance of this serious issue and take appropriate action,” he said.
