Former IPS Kishore Kunal passes away

Former IPS officer and Mahavir Mandir Trust president Kishore Kunal passed away in Patna due to cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Mahavir Vatsala Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. 

Kishore Kunal, a 1972 batch IPS officer,  was one of the founding members of the Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust and was also the chairman of the Bihar State Religious Trust Board. He played an important role in many social works.

Kishore Kunal was a retired IPS officer. He was one of the founders of the Trust in Ayodhya. After retirement, he engaged himself in social work. He was the chairman of the Bihar State Religious Trustees Board. He was also associated with the famous Mahavir temple in Patna.

The Mahavir Mandir Truste Board runs several schools and a cancer hospital in Patna. Kishore Kunal was also the founder of the famous school Gyan Niketan in Patna. 

When VP Singh was the Prime Minister of the country, the central government appointed him as the special officer for mediation between the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Action Committee.

Started from Gujarat cadre, joined Bihar cadre later

Kishore Kunal was born on 10 August 1950. He did his schooling from Baruraj village in Muzaffarpur district. He received bachelor's degree in history and Sanskrit from Patna University. 

In 1972, he joined the Indian Service (IPS) from the Gujarat cadre. He was appointed as Superintendent of Police Anand. In 1978, he became the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Ahmedabad.

In 1983 he got and was posted as Senior Superintendent of Police in Patna. From 1990 to 1994, he served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Home .

In 2001, he took voluntary retirement from police service and chairman of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts. Post retirement, he also served as  Vice-Chancellor of KSD Sanskrit University, Darbhanga till 2004.
