IAS officer Awanish Kumar Awasthi will continue as an advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for another year.
Awasthi's tenure, which was ending on February 28, 20025, has been extended by one more year. Now he will cii ok nirjiw to serve as advisor to CM till February 28, 2026.
This is the third time tenure of Awanish Awasthi, who is considered to be the most trusted bureaucrat of Yogi, has been extended.
Awasthi was first appointed as advisor in the Uttar Pradesh government after retiring in 2022.
Who is Awanish Kumar Awasthi?
Awanish Kumar Awasthi, a 1987 batch IAS officer of UP cadre, retired on August 31, 2022. In his administrative tenure, Awasthi had served in various key departments including home, energy and information and public relations.
He also served on central deputation as joint secretary in ministry of social justice and empowerment during from 2013 to 2017. When Yogi came to power in 2017, Awanish Awasthi repatriated to home cadre. Since then he was instrumental in implementation of mega projects including the construction work of Purvanchal Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway.

Awanish Awasthi graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1985. Subsequently, in 1987, he passed the civil services examination and became an IAS officer. During his administrative career, he was posted in Lalitpur, Badaun, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Faizabad, Meerut and Gorakhpur. From September 2005 to January 2009, he served as Chairman and Managing Director of UPPCL.
