Rajasthan forest minister Sanjay Sharma has set an example by refusing government vehicle, protocol and security due for ministers in the state.
Sharma said that he is a public representative and doesn't have any fear from people.
“They have chosen me. Why should I be afraid of them. I don't have any fear,” he said.
Sanjay Sharma, who handles portfolios like science and technology other than forest, environment and climate change, move in his own personal car without any security and protocol. He is said to have returned government vehicle and personal security officer entitled for minister in Rajasthan.
“I am public's man. These protocols keep me away from public. I don't need them,” said Sanjay Sharma.
The minister took over on January 17, 2024 and since then he is entitled for government vehicle and personal security officer. But he has been driving his own car for coming to office and on field visits.
Sanjay Sharma refused to take gunman after becoming first-time MLA
Sanjay Sharma is among six MLAs who had refused or take any kind of security coverage during 2018-2023. Other MLAs included Sidhi Kumari, Rajendra Pareek, Gyanchand Parekh, Khushveer Singh and Bharat Singh Kundanpur.
Sharma sets an example
Sanjay Sharna has a clean image. He is known to be religious and a firm believer of God. At a moment when even an MLA expects to have an armed guard, Sanjay Sharma has categorically denied any such security. This will put pressure on other ministers as well to show austerity and modesty. Sharma has been planting a tree everyday since he has taken over as the minister. This is the gesture which will take the state towards become Green Rajasthan.
“This BJP government is different. Even chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma meets people without security. They have proved that the government is for people only. We are impressed by the conduct of ministers so far,” said Saloni Sinha, who just interacted with the minister.
