First year MBBS student alleges sexual harassment against HOD of Jhalawar Medical College

A first year medical student of Jhalawar Medical College has registered a complaint of against head of department of Physiology Dr Shrikant Shete.

In her complaint, the girl alleged that Shete used to molest her – to which the girl protested many times.

“But he didn't mend his ways. He used it call the girl in his chamber and would ask her to remove her apron. He also ‘bad touched'. I shared this ordeal to my classmates. But no one came to my help,” she said.

The girl, who stays in , alleged that Dr Shete has been after her since she got admission in the college two months back.

“He would stare at me. He would speak with me in double meaning sentences laced with sexual intent. He has been pressuring me to be friendly with him and when I didn't respond to his advances, he would make fun of me in front of other students to demoralise me,” she alleged.

The girl said that she and her mother then approached the principal of the college and complained him about Dr. Shete. The college administration has handed over the case to prevention of sexual harrasment (POSH) committee, which comprise of members including one person from and three from medical college.

The commute after proper investigation is likely to submit its report by Thursday.

The principal of the college Dr Shiv Bhagwan Sharma said that the college administration has taken up the case seriously.

“The committee will investigate the matter without any bias. Dr Shete has been working with college for last 11 years. We will involve police also if need be. But first let the investigation get completed. We can't say anything before that,” Dr Sharma said.
