At least seven people including the owner Sahid Ali died after an explosion at a firecracker factory in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi. The incident occurred at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi's Bharwari town under the Kokhraj police station area.
According to the police, more than six people were injured in the incident and are now undergoing treatment.
According to police, there was a fire in a firecracker factory in Bharwari. those injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The factory is far from the residential area.
“A rescue operation is underway. They had the license to manufacture and sell. Five-six people were injured,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Srivastava said.
According to information, there were 24 people working in that factory at that time. Around 13 people are suspected to be stuck in the factory. The intensity of the incident can be gauged by that fact that police has recovered body parts of workers 500 metres from the factory. The houses around factory have also caught fire which is being extinguished by the fire brigade team.
The administration immediately swung into action taking the injured to hospital. Family members of deceased came rushing to the accident spot only to find body parts of workers scattered within 500 metres from the factory.
The police is investigating the reason behind the explosion. According to eyewitnesses, explosion was massive. A high decibel blast-sound started coming out from the factory. People thought that the sound is that of thunder as the weather was little cloudy. But then flames started coming out from the factory and workers came out of the factory after attaining height of 15 feet post blast.
