The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh has filed a complaint of corruption and violation of rules against former IAS A P Shrivastava, who is serving as chairman of Madhya Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
The allegations have been levelled by Prabhash Jaitley who accused Shrivastava of irregularities in recruitment in RERA and taking a residential plot from a builder.
A P Shrivastava, who is a 1984 batch IAS officer, was appointed as RERA chairman in April 2021.
What are the allegations?
As per the complaint, Shrivastava has done irregularities in recruitment. Against two posts of Adjudication Officers, Shrivastava advertised only one post while recruited the other officer without advertising.
Apart from that, Shrivastava recruited officers violating recruitment rules. He hired officers and staff above 65 years of age on contract basis as against the rules of hiring staff of less than 65 years.
Jaitley has also alleged that Shrivastava has taken a residential plot B-108 in joint name with his wife Neeti Shrivastava in Aakriti Garden Project of Aakriti Devlinks Private Limited. Shrivastava later cancelled all 12 projects of Aakriti Devlinks in violation of rules that state that Srivastava should not hold hearing in Aakriti Devlinks Projects as the chairman of RERA since it amounts to conflict of interest.
Due to cancellation of projects, bank loan of Rs 80-100 crore got stuck for Aakriti Devlinks.
According to RERA Act, the enquiry of RERA chairman can be done only by High Court judge.
“The complaints are likely to be taken up at the High Court for further probe.
