The Enforcement Directorate (ED) struck again in the alleged Jal Jeevan Mission scam. A team of ED officials, on Wednesday, seized one bank locker of retired RAS officer Amitabh Kaushik and two lockers of businessman O P Vishwakarma and recovered gold worth Rs 6 crore.
“From one locker of Kaushik, 1.5 kg of gold worth Rs 90 lakh recovered while from lockers of Vishwakarma, 8 kg gold biscuits worth Rs 4.84 crore was recovered. Vishwakarma is the president of Rajasthan Cycling Association,” according to information.
The ED has been investigating into the scam and questioning officials related with it. However, neither Kaushik nor Vishwakarma have agreed to own the gold. They are still in the denial mode.
According to sources, ED has confirmed input that Vishwakarma has connections with several senior officials bureaucrats and politicians. He is said to be investing money on their behalf.
“Once ED gets information about Vishwakarma's ‘friends' in the system, the central agency may summon those for investigation,” sources said.
