ECI revokes suspension of Telangana top cop Anjani Kumar

The Commission of India has revoked the suspension of director general of police Anjani Kumar.

Kumar was suspended on December 3 – the counting day of polls – for violating the model code of conduct.

The DGP had met Congress candidate, Revanth Reddy with bouquet of flowers, who is now the chief minister of the state.

The ECI had also suspended state police officers Sanjay Kumar Jain and Mahesh M Bhagwat who accompanied Anjani Kumar.

After Kumar's suspension, senior IPS officer Ravi Gupta was given the full additional charge of DGP of Telangana.

An alumnus of Kirodi Mal Delhi University and St. Xavier's High School, Patna, Anjani Kumar is an IPS of 1990 batch. He is known for having longest tenure as of . He has also served with the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1998-99.
