With just three days to go for election, the Election Commission, on Wednesday, banned the 7 Guarantee election campaign of Rajasthan Congress. Calling it a violation of model code of conduct, the election commission has objected to the campaign in which people are asked to register through a voice call detailing the seven guarantees Congress is proposing. Rajasthan is scheduled to vote on Saturday.

The commission has also taken cognizance of the fact that the campaign has been aired without taking approval from the state level media certification and monitoring committee.

The Election Commission has sent notice to Congress asking them to stop transmitting the two IVRS/OVD messages in which process for availing seven guarantees is transmitted in voice of chief through phone number +911204477631. In the second campaign, a voice message of successful registration for seven guarantees is sent to those who give missed call on mobile 8587070707.

The Election Commission has banned these campaigns saying that these are not approved by media certification and monitoring committee. It has sought explanation from Congress as to why the party has violate the model code of conduct by transmitting the campaigns without getting approval from committee.

EC had given directions regarding electronic campaigns;

The Election Commission, on March 24, 2014, had directed all the parties to get the electronic media campaigns approved by certification and monitoring committee before transmitting. The Election Commission has acted upon the complaint received from BJP.
