Dungarpur Collector Ankit Kumar Singh gets national award

Ankit Kumar Singh, a 2014 batch , serving as collector has brought laurels for Rajasthan. 

The President of India Droupadi Murmu presented Singh the National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for the year 2024 in New Delhi on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This is Singh's third national award. Earlier he had won National Water Award when he was posted as collector Banswara. He was also awarded with National award when he was collector Karauli. Interestingly, he has been collector in three districts so far and on all the three occasions he has been able to win award for his innovative steps.

Murmu has honoured Dungarpur District Collector Ankit Kumar Singh with a citation. Singh's wife Anjali Rajoria, a 2015 batch IAS officer is serving as collector of neighbouring district of Pratapgarh. 

Ankit Kumar Singh has been given this honour for his best in the effective implementation of the schemes for empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, UDID and the schemes for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

What is campaign for empowerment of persons with disabilities

Ankit Kumar Singh had launched mission – No One Left Behind – for the welfare of Divyangjans. Under the mission, camps for Divyangjan were organised in all 10 blocks of Dungarpur district. The mission was focused on door-to-door delivery of ration to Divyangjan. He also ensured 100 percent voting of persons with disability (PWD) voters, which added feathers to his already decorated cap.  

Apart for that he took special efforts on creating 228 self-help groups of Divyangjan through Rajivika to help and support the employment of these disabled persons. 

Singh also ensured that 6,895 Divyanjans got registered in the state under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Programme, which is highest in the state. 

Singh also created more than 2 lakh man-days of work in MGNEGP with 76.44 per cent and paid Rs 4.25 crore in wages to Divyangjan, which is again the  highest in the state.
