Dress code mandatory for power company employees

A government owned power transmission company in Rajasthan bans jeans and t-shirts in its offices and enforces proper dress code specified in rule books

The Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RRVPNL) has enforced a proper dress code for staff in office. The chairman of RRVPNL is Alok, who is a strict disciplinarian.

A 1993-batch IAS officer, Alok is also the additional chief (ACS) of . It is likely that the dress code gets applicable to other companies also including the three .

In an order, secretary administration of RRVPNL Anandi Lal Vaishnav has banned the entry of officials wearing and t-shirts. The order states that wearing casual dress is banned in government offices. 

“There are many staff and officers who don't wear proper dress in offices. They wear casual dress in office. Officers wear casual clothes and slippers which is against the protocol.  As per the protocol of government, whenever staff or officers go in field or office, they should wear formal clean and decent clothes. Wearing casual clothes in government offices is completely banned,” the order states. 

Dress code for drivers and fourth class also

The corporation in a separate order has directed all drivers, technical staff and fourth class employees to come in proper uniform as specified in the work rules. The order dated March 12, 2024 states that if staff and employees come without proper uniform even when given uniform allowance, will be treated as violation of service rules.

“All staff members are asked to come to office in proper specified uniform.

Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant is also particular about dressing

The chief secretary Sudhansh Pant has a great dressing sense. He is always seen in formal clothings while at office and expect staff to be dressed in a neat and clean manner with formal looks.

In the year 2022, when Pant was additional chief secretary PHED, he made a senior engineer of department to go home and come back in formal dressing. The engineer had come to attend the meeting in jeans which comes under inappropriate dressing as per the government protocol.
