In compliance with the directives of Commission of India ((ECI), Director General of Police Umesh Mishra effected transfer of 82 Deputy Superintendent of Police.

As per rules of Election Commission of India (ECI), field officers have to be transferred if their stay on that post is more than 3 years in last four years in the polling . Srivastava, who has spent more than 4 years in this post, is also expecting a transfer within day or two. The ECI has sought a report on transfers of such officers from Chief Secretary and Director General of Police by July 31, 2023.

“It was expected to transfer officials, who were on field posting for long time at the same place. Yesterday Inspectors and SHOs were transferred. Before that list of Additional SPs have also come. Now list of officers will also come by tomorrow. It will include the name of the new Commissioner of Jaipur,” said a senior police official.

According to sources, the government is looking at giving the coveted post to an officer of General rank belonging to either SC or ST category.

“The appointment of Jaipur Police Commissioner is happening at a crucial time.
It will carry political messaging as well. So chief Ashok Gehlot is having indepth discussion with his advisors (no police officers) before taking a final decision,” an official working in CMO said.
