Deputation of IAS Athar Aamir to J&K extended by one year

The of to Jammu Kashmir has been extended by one year. Athar is a 2016 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, who initially went for a three-year deputation to his home state Jammu & Kashmir in February 2021. 

Athar was later granted extension of one year in 2024 after completion of three year term. Now that the extended term has also been completed the department of personnel and training has further given extension of one year till February 2026 on request of Jammu & Kashmir government.

Athar is currently serving as district magistrate and district of Kulgam district in J&K. Earlier he had served on an important position of commissioner, Srinagar municipal corporation. 

Along with Athar, two more IAS officers have also been given one year extension. These include Basharat Qayoom and . 

Qayoom is a 2016 batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre. He is currently serving as deputy commissioner of Pulwama while Labroo, a 2018 batch IAS officer from Tripura cadre, is on inter cadre deputation to J&K. He is currently serving as deputy commissioner Budgam.
