Cyber cell cops held for spying on their own SP, seven suspended

In a rare case, cyber cell cops were caught tracking location of their own SP Jyeshtha Maitrei in Bhiwadi. Seven policemen including a sub inspector have been suspended.

One sub inspector and six policemen have been for illegally tracking location of Bhiwadi SP Jyeshtha Maitrei. The policemen are from the cyber cell of Bhiwadi. The matter is being investigated by the Headquarters

SP Jyeshtha Maitrei, a 2018 batch IPS officer, said that she had no inkling about the location tracking.

“I had never expected that my team members will disappoint me like this. I had never thought that people of my department would track my location and keep any eye on my movement,” she said. 

Maitrei said that she received a confidential report about spying on October 6. 

“Then after investigation it was found true and immediate action was taken on October 7,” she said 

The department suspended cyber cell incharge Shravan Joshi, head constable Avnish Kumar and constables Rahul, Satish, Deepak, Bheem and Rohtash. 

The police head quarters have started probe in this case. Involvement of more police officers is suspected on this case in which every movement and location of Maitrei was tracked by the cyber cell staff. 

Who is IPS Jyeshtha Maitrei?

Jyeshtha Maitrei is a 2018 batch IPS from Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. Her first posting was at Girwa circle, Udaipur as ASP. After that she was posted as SP Bhilwara followed by DCP Crime Branch in Jaipur police. She also had field postings in , Kotputli and Behror.
