When former mayor of Jodhpur Rameshwar Dadhich better known as duplicate Gehlot filed nomination from Soorsagar constituency as a rebel Congress candidate, little did people believe that it was in favour of Congress which has fielded a Muslim candidate from Soorsagar. Dadhich would have cut votes of BJP candidate Gopal Joshi, a candidate of his own caste.
No wonder, Congress was not seen trying to persuade Rameshwar Dadhich, who is said to be very close friend of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, to withdraw.
But BJP, knowing that Rameshwar Dadhich can make a dent in votes, pleaded him to withdraw in favour of BJP.
Rameshwar Dadhich not only withdrew but also took chartered flight to join BJP .
What was termed as ‘masterstroke' of Gehlot rebounded back to hit the party hard.
Dadhich joining BJP has more than optics value. The saffron party has been able to rope in many die hard Congress leaders to its folds including Jyoti Mirdha, Jyoti Khandelwal, Rameshwar Dadhich among others.
