Congress announces 144 candidates from Madhya Pradesh, Kamalnath to contest from Chhindwada

On the first day of Navratra, Congress announced list of 144 candidates for assembly . The party has fielded Ramayan fame TV Vikram Mastal against minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Budhani. Congress stalwart and former chief minister Kamalnath gets ticket from his traditional seat Chhindwada.

Congress reposed trust in 69 out of 96 sitting MLAs on the seats announce some Sunday. It has fielded Sanjay Shukla from Indore -I against BJP MP and senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya while Avadesh Nayak will take on home minister firebrand leader Narottam Mishra from Datia. Nayak had been state minister in BJP government.

The party has fielded 5-time from Pichhore K P Singh from Shivpuri while Shailendra Singh will replace K P Singh in Pichhore.

Candidates from all categories

Out of 144 candidates 39 are from OBC while 22 belong to scheduled caste and 30 candidates are picked from scheduled tribe categories. The party has fielded 5 Jain and one Muslim candidate so far in the election. The number of woman candidates is 19.
