Communal tension flares up in Udaipur

A frail reminder to the incident in which a tailor was beheaded by Islamic extremists in Udaipur, a Class X student was stabbed by his classmate resulting into flaring up of communal tension

is wrapped under communal tension after a class X student of a government school was stabbed on his thigh by his classmate. Both the students belonged to different religion.

The incident of stabbing flared up into communal tension as people of one community gathered and called for shops in the market area of the city to shut. Later, a mob burnt some vehicles and pelted stones.

This is second incident of communal tension in recent times. Two years back, a tailor Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by two Islamic extemists.

The administration immediately swung into action and Udaipur collector rushed to meet the victim in the . The administration imposed prohibitory orders to take control of the situation. The has arrested the attacking-students and his father. They are investigating to find out what had transpired between them and if any one else was also involved in the attack.

“The condition of the injured child is stable. Doctors are giving him the best possible treatment. The city is peaceful now. The SP and I had moved around the city for an hour with police officers. Two-three vehicles were set on in some areas, but apart from this, there has been no incident for which the police have had to resort to lathi charge,” Poswal said. 

He appealed to the people not to heed to any rumour or Whatts App forwards and observe resilience.

What was the incident?

According to district education officer Lokesh Bharti, the two students were friends and had never indulged in any kind of fighting before. 

“ I have not idea what was the reason of dispute. But during lunch time the victim came out running shouting in pain. The attacker had stabbed him in the thigh two to three times leaving hi under immense pain and blood oozing out. The victim was immediately rushed to the MB hospital,” he said
