Ahead of Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit Jaipur district collector Jitendra Kumar Soni has taken an initiative to free the district from beggars.
He directed to ensure effective rehabilitation of those involved in begging so that such individuals abandon begging and start a dignified life on the basis of their skills and hard work.
This will not only ensure a dignified living for beggars but also enhance the image of Jaipur as a beggar-free city before tourists and business delegates coming from across the world to attend the summit.
Soni instructed police and traffic police officials to rescue as well as take preventive and strict legal action against the beggars involved in criminal activities.

He told them to link the identified rehabilitation homes with Annapurna kitchen scheme to ensure proper food supply for beggars.
He also asked them to register beggars in the Chief Minister's Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme and provide employment to them.
“All arangement should be made or provide free treatment to beggars suffering from diseases like TB, HIV and other diseases. Their rehabilitation homes should be linked to the nearest government hospital and ensure the examination and treatment of beggars,” he said.
The District Collector gave instructions to the officials of Social Justice and Empowerment Department to identify beggars through self-service institutions after the survey and provide care by giving them shelter at children's homes, women's homes, mentally retarded homes, old age homes or rehabilitation homes etc.
“Children should be given admission to local schools so that they get proper formal education and food,” he said.
Beggars to get skill training
The district collector instructed officials of the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC) to organise job oriented training for a batch of 25 persons from the list of persons involved in begging identified by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
“The corporation should link beggars with loans or grants and other schemes provided by the banks, as well as ensure their rehabilitation through the follow-up programmes,” he said.
