Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has set the tone for new year when he announced to review progress of 88% of the MoUs worth Rs 32 lakh crore signed during Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit. He made it clear that he owns the responsibility of realising the investment commitments at the summit.
The chief secretary Sudhansh Pant will review Rs 3.5 lakh crore MoUs while remaining Rs 90,000 crore MoUs will be tracked at department head level.
As much as Rs 36.4 lakh crore worth MoUs were signed at Rising Rajasthan summit – making the summit second largest after Uttar Pradesh which signed MoUs worth Rs 40 lakh crore in a similar global summit organised last year.
Three-tier review mechanism
The government has set up a three-tier review mechanism for implementation of MoUs on ground. The chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma himself will take monthly review of 261 MoUs which are worth more than Rs 1,000 crore each.
“These 261 MoUs total Rs 32 lakh crore. A monthly review by chief minister will help realise many of these,” said a senior IAS officer working in chief minister office.
The chief secretary Sudhansh Pant will conduct bi-monthly review of 1,678 MoUs with investment commitments between less than Rs 1,000crore but more than Rs 100 crores. The total value of these MoUs is Rs 3.5 lakh crore.
Similarly, MoUs worth less than Rs 100 crore will be reviewed on weekly basis by respective department heads.
“The number of such MoUs is 9,726 totalling Rs 90,000 crore. Such tight follow up and review will definitely help better conversion of investment commitments,” said an industry department official.
