Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is betting on state-of-the-art convention centre – Rajasthan Mandapam – to be built in Jaipur on the lines of the famous Bharat Mandapam of New Delhi.
Sharma said that Rajasthan Mandapam will boost industrial, tourism and cultural activities in the state, which will help in making Rajasthan, a $350 billion economy.
Rajasthan Mandapam, to be set up across 35 hectare land, will house world-class facilities for commercial and cultural events. This will help Rajasthan become the first choice for all mega events and conference tourism.
“Rajasthan Mandapam can also be a major attraction centre for promoting local art, culture and tourism along with cultural and commercial events and it can also become a matter of pride for the state,” Sharma said while addressing a top level meeting in which Additional Chief Secretary Finance Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (CMO) Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary Industries Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary (CMO) Alok Gupta and senior officials of RIICO were present.
Sharma gave necessary guidelines regarding the development of convention centres, exhibition centres, meeting halls and parking facilities for visitors.
What is Rajasthan Mandapam?
Rajasthan Mandapam is being constructed across 35 hectare land in Jaipur with an investment of Rs 100 crore. This is being developed by RIICO and would be construed by NBCC, who high has constructed Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
NBCC and RIICO have already conducted meetings to discuss the blue print of the mega convention centre, which promised to become the nerve centre of commercial and cultural activities.
