Appointment of RPSC chairman is in critical path as chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma focuses on upping recruitment activities.

Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the government is committed to provide jobs in large numbers. For that, it is preparing exam calendar and would conduct examinations on holidays other than Sundays also.

“Exams are generally conducted on Sundays as centres are available on this day. We are planning to conduct exams non other holidays as well, so that exams can be conducted frequently and results can be declared fast resulting in faster manifestation of jobs,” he said.

Appointment of RPSC chairman and other members

Public Service , the body which conducts recruitment exam for senior level, doesn't have regular chairman. Its previous chairman Sanjay Shrotriya, a former IPS, retired last month. Since then one of the members , a former IAS is officiating as chairman. Posts of two members are also vacant following of Jaswant Rathi and arrest of Babu Lal Katara in the infamous paper leak case. Katara was later suspended following the assent from President of India.

For proper and effective working in RPSC, which is facing the worst ever ‘credibility crisis' following a string of paper leak case, needs a  chairman with credible antecedents. Appointment of suitable candidates on two vacant posts of members will definitely expedite the implementation of chief minister's mega job-plan.

Who can be the frontrunners?

At this moment, the post of RPSC chairman is a crown of thorns. Whosoever takes up this responsibility will have to revamp the entire system and redeem the old glory and credibility of the organisation.

The government may look up to retired IAS and former IPS to clean up the mess in RPSC.

Among frontrunners are former IAS Rajeshwar Singh and ex-IPS Nina Singh, who retired in July this year. Then another IPS of DG rank Sunil Dutt can also be a contender. He is retiring this month. IAS Rajendra Bhatt, who was promoted from special selection and serving as divisional Udaipur, is also among front runners. He is getting superannuated this month.
