A clerical staff of revenue divisional office, Thiruvananthapuram has been suspended on complaints of harassment filed by sub collector Aswathy Srinivas.
Awasthy Sriniwas, who is a 2020-batch IAS of Kerala cadre has been serving as sub collector in Thiruvananthapuram since October 2022.
According to her complaint, Santosh Kumar RP, who is employed as a clerk in the revenue divisional office, called her up multiple times late night between 11 pm and 8 am on Monday.
Aswathy Srinivas gave her stern warning him not to call again, but Santosh continued to call the woman IAS officer and sent Whatsapp messages not suited to his official designation.
Irked by erratic behaviour of Santosh, Aswathy Srinivas filed a complaint against with the principal secretary of the Revenue Department Tinku Biswal, who is 1997-batch IAS officer.
The principal secretary upon detailed enquiry found the complaint filed by Srinivas as valid.
“Sending messages to a higher woman official in a way unbecoming of an official post comes within the ambit of verbal sexual harassment and it amounted to gross breach of discipline,” the order said.
Santosh Kumar RP was immediately suspended as part of the probe.
