Chitra Singh, wife of former MP Manvendra Singh dies in road accident 

Chitra Singh, wife of former Barmer MP and former MLA Manvendra Singh dies in a road accident. Her son is also seriously injured

Chitra Singh, wife of former member of parliament of Barmer in a road accident. Singh and his son was also there in the car when accident happened. His son Hamir Singh Rathore also seriously injured. Both Manvendra and Hamir are said to be out of danger.

Manvendra Singh is son of former BJP stalwart Jaswant Singh, who was finance, defence and minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet. 

According to sources, the accident happened in Naugaon near Haryana-Rajasthan border on - Expressway. The injured have been taken to Solanki hospital in Alwar.

Alwar additional SP Tejpal Singh said that the car was coming from Delhi to Jaipur in a high speed and the accident occurred around 5 pm. Singh said that all injured are out of danger and treatment is being done.

Eye witnesses on the spot said that the car was in such a high speed that it crossed the divider and bumped into the wall. People called up police and took the injured immediately to the hospital.

According to doctors, Hamir Singh has fracture in nose and hand while Manvendra Singh has fracture in his ribs and his serious injury in lungs. Their driver has also been seriously injured. He has got fracture in his legs.


Alwar Collector Ashish Gupta and Alwar superintendent of police Anand Sharma have reached the hospital. The administration is geared up to deal with the situation. Leaders of Congress and BJP have also reached hospital.

Who is Chitra Singh?

Chitra Singh was active in politics along with her husband Manvendra Singh, who lost the assembly election from Siwana on Congress ticket. Chitra Singh belongs to Bhainsarodgarh royal family of Chittorgarh while Manvendra Singh is from Jasol in Balotara district. Apart from being a politician Manvendra Singh also holds rank of Colonel in territorial army and has worked as journalist in Indian Express newspaper.
