Centre schemes for farmers empowerment (PM-KISAN): PM-KISAN, launched in 2019, is an income support scheme targeting small and marginal farmers. Eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three instalments, significantly improving their income and quality of life. Currently, 11.8 crore farmers benefit from this scheme.

Minimum Support Price (MSP): The government sets MSP for 22 agricultural crops, ensuring farmers receive fair prices. Since 2018-19, MSPs have been fixed at one and a half times the cost of production, providing a 50 percent return. In the last decade, farmers received substantial support through MSP, notably for paddy, wheat, oilseeds, and pulses.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): PMFBY, launched in 2016, offers crop insurance coverage against natural calamities, pests, or diseases. This scheme provides financial security to farmers by ensuring timely compensation for crop losses. Currently, 4 crore farmers benefit from PMFBY.

Soil Health Card Scheme: Initiated in 2015, this scheme provides farmers with personalized soil health reports, offering insights on soil nutrients and recommendations for balanced fertilization. With 8272 soil testing labs established and 23.58 crore soil health cards distributed, this scheme promotes sustainable soil practices.

e-NAM (Electronic – National Agriculture Market):Launched in 2016, e-NAM is an electronic trading portal integrating agricultural markets nationwide. It enables farmers to sell their produce online, discover competitive prices, and connect with buyers directly. Approximately 1.8 crore farmers benefit from e-NAM, which has revolutionized agricultural trade.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras: Established in 2022, these centers provide quality agricultural inputs, soil testing services, and advisory support under one roof. With over 1.75 centers established, these kendras aim to improve farm practices and yields.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana: This umbrella scheme incorporates various initiatives for agro-processing and development clusters. With benefits reaching 38 lakh farmers and generating 10 lakh employment opportunities, the scheme promotes in post-harvest activities, modern storage, and efficient supply chains.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY):Introduced in 2015, PMKVY offers skill training to farmers and rural youth, empowering them with essential agricultural skills and enhancing productivity. Over 40 million individuals have benefited from PMKVY, generating employment opportunities in the agricultural sector.

Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana: Aiming at sustainable development of the fisheries sector, this scheme involves an estimated investment of Rs. 20,050 crores for holistic development and welfare of fishers.

Schemes for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry:Building upon existing schemes, such as the Rashtriya Gokul Mission and National Livestock Mission, the government focuses on enhancing productivity in the dairy and animal husbandry sector.

Through these schemes, the Government of India endeavorsto uplift farmers by providing financial support, skill development, and infrastructure enhancement, thereby ensuring their socio-economic empowerment and contributing to agricultural growth in the country.
