Central agencies conduct raids on former minister Mahesh Joshi

Central agencies have conducted raids in the premises of former minister Mahesh Joshi early morning in a case related to Jal Jeevan Mission

Central Investigating agencies have conducted raids on the premises of former PHED minister early morning.

According to sources the raid is related to the alleged scam in Jal Jeevan Mission. 

The Income Tax and Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in November last year had conducted raids in the premises of senior Subodh Agarwal, who was additional chief of PHED. 

Agarwal is currently general of Indira Panchayatiraj Sansthan.

The ED had recovered some cash and documents from the raid. It had also conducted raid on engineers, contractors and middlemen who were allegedly involved in Jal Jeevan Mission Scam. 

However, ED had not investigated PHED minister Mahesh Joshi or conducted raids at his places at that time. The investigation, though, was going on and after some incriminating evidences, the central agency has conducted raids in his premises. 

BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena, who is now agriculture minister in Rajasthan government, had launched agitation against the alleged scam. He had accused then Congress government of Rajasthan of Rs 20,000 crore scam In Jal Jeevan Mission. 

What is Jal Jeevan Mission ?

Jal Jeevan Mission, is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India with equal financial contribution of state and central government.
