CBI court rejects bail of former RPSC member Katara

Special rejected bail plea of suspended RPSC member , who is in jail for the last two years in the paperleak case.

The special court rejected bail citing the rejection of bail by the and citing evidence against Katara.

The court said in the order that the accused is not entitled to get bail in view of the evidence in this entire case.

The High Court has rejected the bail plea of the other accused in the case. On February 24, a single bench of the High Court, while hearing bail petitions, had made it clear that paper leak of public examinations has a bad effect on society. Therefore, it is not appropriate to grant the benefit of bail in view of all the facts, circumstances and the offence of the accused.”

Katara's argument – falsely implicated

The bail petition filed by Babulal Katara argued that the case was falsely implicated and made a culprit on the basis of mere speculation. No evidence related to the leaked paper of the second grade teacher recruitment examination has been recovered from him. He argued that he was not present in the bus where the paper was solved. He was not involved in any case related to paperleak.

Govt lawyers argued Katara was the main partner in paperleak

The government lawyer strongly opposed Katara's bail plea. The government lawyers argued that Babulal Katra has been the main player in the paperleak of the grade second teacher recruitment and his role while being a member of the RPSC has been crucial.

“He was assigned the task of setting papers during the Grade II teacher recruitment examination. After getting the paper prepared, Katara brought it to his home and got his nephew Vijay Damore copy the paper and then kept it back in the RPSC office again.

The leader of the paperleak gang Anil Kumar Meena clicked the photograph of the copied paper and forwarded it to the beneficiaries.

Katara's crime is more serious than the rest of the accused

Government lawyers argued that Katara was in contact with the accused Anil Kumar Meena in this case and it was on his testimony that Rs 51.20 lakh and 541 grams of were recovered from Anil Meena.

“A 50 grams gold box and an iPhone, which was found in exchange for a paper leak, were also recovered from Katara's nephew. There is a lot of evidence against Katara. The bail petitions of the co-accused in this case have been rejected by the High Court, while the Katara's crime is of a more serious nature than them.
