Bridging gap: Gehlot aims at connecting hearts through roads, lays foundation of 4.10k road works worth Rs 1.52 k crore

Rajasthan chief minister said that Rajasthan is becoming a model state in the road network. The state is witnessing all round development in every sector including roads, education, medical, employment, agriculture, water, electricity and industry.

“A strong road network plays an important role in the progress of any state. This year, tribal and desert areas with a population of more than 250 and other areas with population of more than 350 as per the census-2011, are being linked with roads,” he said while virtually laying foundation stone of 4,101 works in 232 urban bodies in the state. With these road development works worth Rs 1,528 crore, 2,642 kms long roads will be constructed and developed.

Gehlot said that the state government is committed to its vision to include Rajasthan in the leading states of the country by the year 2030. The government has approved Rs 55 crore for the Centre of Excellence for Road and Building Construction in .

Black spots fixed, accidents will reduce

Gehlot said that special attention is being paid on the construction of roads along with preventing road accidents. After identifying 1548 black spots in the state, 1365 have been fixed. Along with the inspection by the experts, now the responsibility of the company making the roads has been made for 5 years. 

“Audit has been carried out by the experts to make Shahjahanpur to Ajmer, Bar to Bilada  (Jodhpur) and Sikar to Bikaner roads -free. Initiative has been taken to make these three stretches free from accidents by fixing the black spots and other reasons for accidents on these roads. Soon these works will be completed.

Focus on completion of road projects

Public Works Department (PWD) Vaibhav Galriya said that the focus is on completing the road projects at the earliest. He said that the department is concerned about the quality of the roads and special attention is being given on construction as to prevent road accidents.

“We are implementing the road projects at fast pace. As many as 2,083 out of 2,189 works were completed in 2021-22 which constitute 95% of the total work. Similarly in 2022-23, 2,469 out of 3,368 works have been completed. We are committed to roll out road projects without compromising on quality,” Galriya said.
