Bharatpur Collector files complaint about impersonation on WhatsApp 

In a case of impersonation on social media, someone using WhatsApp number from Sri Lanka posed as Bharatpur collector Amit Yadav

In a case of cyber crime, a person impersonating as Bharatpur has called up and sent messages to officers and people on WhatsApp. He has also created a fake identity of Yadav on

Bharatpur Collector Amit Yadav has filed a complaint with cyber cell about this. 

Amit Yadav told The that someone has put an old photograph as profile picture on WhatsApp and had sent messages to officers. He had asked about their well being and location using that WhatsApp number.

“Many officers called me up to apprise about his. I have redirected a complaint with cyber cell. I have also written a complaint letter to WhatsApp so that they can take action against that number which is probably from Sri Lanka,” he said. 

is investigating the case. So far there is information about any financial fraud.

In past there have been many cases across the country where people impersonating higher officials have duped money from their known.

”This has come to the knowledge at right time. The Bharatpur Collector took appropriate action to control the situation. We expect cooperation from WhatsApp to crack this case,” said a senior police officer.
