In a solemn gesture, Bhagwant Singh Mann presented a cheque of ₹1 crore as financial assistance to the family of Agniveer Jawan Ajay Kumar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving India. 

Expressing heartfelt condolences, CM Mann emphasised the valour of Ajay Kumar, who hailed from the village of Ramgarh Sardaran near . Agniveer Ajay lost his life in a landmine blast while on duty in . Mann underscored the irreparable loss suffered by both the nation and the grieving family due to the supreme sacrifice made by this brave soldier.

The financial aid, as mentioned by the Chief Minister, is a tribute to the heroic contribution of soldiers like Ajay Kumar towards safeguarding the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the country. He reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to supporting the families of martyrs, considering it a solemn duty to honour their sacrifices.

In addition to the financial assistance, CM Mann announced several initiatives to commemorate Ajay Kumar's legacy. A government school in the village will be named after the martyr. CM Mann also promised the construction of a stadium and an Aam Aadmi Clinic in his honor. Furthermore, a government job will be provided to a member of the martyr's family.

Strongly opposing the Agniveer scheme, CM Mann condemned it as an insult to the brave soldiers' contributions, denouncing it as exploitation of the nation's youth. He called for its immediate repeal, emphasising the need to prioritise the welfare of soldiers and their families. He questioned the significance of Agniveer scheme.

CM Mann expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, criticising the lack of empathy from those in at the center towards the families of martyrs. He highlighted the enduring valour of Punjabis in both the struggle for independence and the ongoing efforts to preserve it.
