Atul Malhari Gotsurve has been appointed as India's next Ambassador to Mongolia. He will soon take up the new assignment replacing MP Singh.
Atul M Gotsurve, a 2004 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is serving as joint secretary in the ministry of external affairs.
An engineer by education from Pune, Gotsurve started his career as a lecturer in civil engineering and then joined central water commission (CWC) as Assistant Director, where he was responsible for the design of various dam projects, including in Bhutan.
Later he joined IFS after clearing UPSC examination. As a career diplomat, Gotsurve has served in the Indian Embassy in Mexico and in Cuba, handling a number of portfolios including political, commercial, trade and investment promotion, culture and consular affairs.
In the Ministry of External Affairs, he has worked in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Division from 2010-2014 in various capacities.
