Amid rising Covid cases, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma catches SMS hospital staff off guard in a sudden visit

With Covid cases rising, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma was seen in action on Monday – a government holiday on occasion of Christmas.

The visit of chief minister Sharma is seen crucial with cases of Covid climbing up in Rajasthan. There are at least 20 active cases in the state including seven in Jaipur itself.

The chief minister visited SMS hospital and reviewed the arrangements in hospitals. He was seen visibly dissatisfied with the order of things in the state's largest hospital.


The unplanned visit of chief minister caught the officers off guard. The superintendent of the hospital Achal Sharma was not present at the time of visit. Later when Achal Sharma came, the chief minister instructed him to keep a close watch on the cleanliness of the hospital.

The chief minister met patients admitted in wards and enquired about difficulties they are facing.
In one of the neurological wards, Sharma found staff absent from duty. He got furious and asked about their absence. later three male nurses were for being absent from duty.

The chief minister was not pleased with the cleanliness in hospital and instructed staff for keeping the hospital sanitised and clean.

The chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is in the process of building his team which will work with him for the next five years.
The cabinet expansion is likely to take place in day or two. Sharma has discusses and deliberated names of probable ministers with prime minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and other senior leaders in Delhi.

The cabinet is likely to have a mix of fresh faces and experienced hands. It will ask have a balanced caste equation keeping in mind the upcoming election.

The BJP, despite losing the assembly elections, had won all the 25 seats in Rajasthan.
