Amid rains petrol-diesel ‘drought’ in Rajasthan from tomorrow, dealers go on indefinite strike

From tomorrow 6 am onwards, 7,000 petrol pump dealers are going for indefinite strike in . There will be no sale of petrol and diesel in the state. Petrol pump dealers are demanding a cut in Value Added Tax ( ) to remain competitive with dealers of other states, where petrol and diesel prices are less than Rajasthan due to lower VAT rates.

Petrol pump dealers were on symbolic strike on 13-14 September closing down sales between 10 am to 6 pm. However, looking at the state 's cold response to their demands, Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association has decided to go on indefinite strike.

Association president Rajendra Singh Bhati and general Shashank Kaurani said that there will complete ban on sale of diesel and petrol on the state and at the same time petrol pump dealers will not lift petroleum products from depots. Rajasthan has the highest petrol diesel prices in the country. The most expensive fuel is being sold in Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan. For one litre of petrol, one has to shell out Rs 112.74 while diesel is priced at Rs 97.57 a litre.
