Mohan Yadav, MLA from Ujjain South has been appointed as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Former union agriculture minister Narendra Tomar will be the speaker while Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla have been appointed as deputy chief ministers. The outgoing chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has not been given any responsibility so far.
Similar, Prahlad Patel, who reigned from union ministry as state minister of Jal Shakti too has not been given any responsibility so far.
Yadav is a third time MLA winning this seat since 2013. He was education minister in Shivraj Singh cabinet.
Coming from OBC community, Yadav balances the exit of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who also hails from OBC.
Keeping in eye the Lok Sabha elections the party made two deputy chief ministers also – one from scheduled caste and other from Brahmin community. Jagdish Devda, an MLA from Malhargarh in Mandsaur district, was finance minister in Shivraj cabinet.
Another deputy CM Rajendra Shukla, an MLA from Reewa, was minister of public relation and public health engineering in Shivraj cabinet.
