In a rare instance, a pair of Sasur and damaad won assembly elections in Rajasthan. Both are from opposite parties. Congress candidate from Phulera Vidhyadhar Singh Choudhary won the election defeating BJP's Nirmal Kumawat. His son-in-law Shailesh Singh, who is the BJP candidate from Deegh-Kumher won the election defeating Congress' Vishvendra Singh, member of erstwhile royal family of Bharatpur.
Now both father-in-law and son-in-law will attend the assembly together. While son-in-law Shailesh Singh will sit on ruling party side, Vidhyadhar Singh Choudhary will be on the opposition side.
Shailesh Singh is son of former BJP minister later Dr Digambar Singh, who was an arch rival of Vishvendra Singh. In 2018, Shailesh Singh was given ticket after the death of Dr. Digamabar Singh from Deegh-Kumher. However, Vishvendra Singh had won the seat that time.
