The BJP has registered yet another complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for violation of model code of conduct.
The Election Commission has already sought explanation from Gandhi for using words like panauti and pickpocket for prime minister Narendra Modi during elections campaign.
The BJP has complained to Election Commission that Rahul Gandhi has posted promises of Congress on his X account while appealing to voters. BJP has demanded legal action against Gandhi and ban on his X account.
As per the complaint by BJP, no leader can do publicity on public platform once the election campaign is over. The provision 126 of Public Representative Act 1951 clearly states that no publicity can be done on TV, radio or social media after the campaign is over.
“During the silent period of 48 hours, any kind of puny campaign is banned. Rahul Gandhi has used social media platform to publicise poll promises while appealing for votes,” the complaint mentions.
Rahul Gandhi is a star campaigner of Congress and till 10.35 am 2.30 lakh people have viewed the post.
“This is clear violation of provisions of Public Representative Act 1951,” the BJP argued.
